STEPHEN H. GORDON  MAI   

Steve graduated from East Carolina University with a business degree - real estate concentration in 1975, and that same year began working with the North Carolina Department of Transportation in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as a Right of Way Appraiser Trainee, serving as a Right-of-Way Agent and later as a Real Estate Appraiser I. In 1978, Steve joined Southeast Mortgage Corporation in Greensboro, North Carolina as a Loan Officer/Real Estate Appraiser and in 1979 joined Travelers Real Estate Investment Department in Atlanta, Georgia as a Real Estate Representative serving the company in various capacities in several major real estate markets over the next 10 years, including Assistant Vice President in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. In 1989, Steve joined John McCracken & Associates, Inc. in Greensboro, North Carolina as a Real Estate Appraiser and Consultant and has served in this capacity since that time, most recently as an eminent domain specialist.

Since 1975, Steve's real estate and appraisal experience has been extensive and varied, including most property types. The appraisal experience with the NCDOT included residential, agricultural, and special purpose property types. The appraisal experience with Southeast Mortgage, Travelers, and John McCracken & Associates, Inc. relates to these property types as well as many types of income-producing properties located throughout the United States. This appraisal experience has been supplemented with a work background that includes real estate acquisitions, mortgage loan financing, property management/leasing, distressed property workouts, joint ventures, and real estate development of large institutional properties. Since the mid-1990s, Steve has specialized in eminent domain appraisals and court testimony involving a wide variety of property types, primarily for various governmental agencies and energy companies in the southeastern United States.

State Certifications:

Steve maintains general appraisal certifications in the states of North Carolina and Virginia, and is also a licensed real estate broker in the state of North Carolina.
